MARJEYOUN
YWCA - Established in 1948
Associations in South Lebanon have faithfully resisted
under many years of Israeli occupation and periods of fighting.
This lingering state of instability has caused massive displacement
among the civilian population, precipitating serious economic setbacks.
Nonetheless, this association struggles in the hope of real peace
for South Lebanon.
Current Programs
A
Membership of 50 brings together younger and older women who are
in the process of establishing a permanent center for future YWCA
activities in training and development programs.
A partnership
with The British Embassy in Lebanon has allowed for the repair and
refurbishing of available space to set up day care for 50 children,
as well as language and computer training for an average of 50 young
students.
