ABLAH YWCA - Established in 1980

Current Programs

Child Sponsorship and recreational programs for 100 children have been offered in partnership with World Vision for close to fifteen years. Now this has to be administered by the association, pending financial assistance from partner agencies.

Community Services
include: A lending library, a nursery, monthly gatherings for children and a summer day camp, carried out by the young membership.

Training Programs for an average of 40 students, in typing, computer, English language, sewing, and embroidery.

Income Generating projects enable women to work in their homes, thus caring for their young and elderly while preparing fruit and other preserves for sale through the YWCA centers. Handwork is also sent to artisanal outlet stores and bazaars.

Membership and Community building programs are held monthly for women volunteers and young members, with special focus on health issues, skills training for home industries, leadership training and management.

A Community Medical Center focuses on preventive and curative healthcare for an area encompassing 10 other villages. Specialized physicians ensure weekly attendance in obstetrics, cardio-vascular disorders, internal and family medicine, ophthalmology and pediatrics. Monthly lectures are held for the benefit of the larger community on a diversity of health issues, to increase awareness on preventive health measures.
