The
YWCA is one of the oldest organizations tending
to women’s problems in Lebanon. It stands
out for its training in volunteer team work and
leadership roles as well as providing a forum for
the exploration of new problems and issues and their
possible resolution, with the rights and advancement
of women remaining the focus of its concern. Since
its primary aim has always been the service and
development of the community by enhancing the conditions
of women, it is only befitting that it houses a
Center for Women in Crisis.
The Center is envisioned as a non-profit service
that is established for troubled women to come together,
both formally and informally, to give support to
each other, to share problems faced by them, to
provide legal and psychological counseling as well
as paramedical assistance to battered women, to
encourage creativity among them and build up their
self-confidence by valuing the unique perspectives
and experiences of women, to help interpret the
needs of women to a wider community, and finally,
to spearhead the movement for the repealing of existent
discriminatory laws and the introduction of laws
protective of women’s rights.

Mission
is to promulgate a culture of acceptance, equality
and understanding, reduce violence against women
and provide peace and harmony to the lives of abused
women.
Services
at the Center are provided by experienced specialists:
(psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, physicians,
lawyers, educators).
